NBA Amnesty Clause Update 2013

During the 2013 offseason, 5 teams exercised their one-time Amnesty provision: Charlotte Bobcats ; Los Angeles Lakers ; Miami Heat ; Milwaukee Bucks ; Toronto Raptors . Meanwhile, 3 more teams let their right to use the option expire : Detroit Pistons ; Sacramento Kings ; Utah Jazz . As it stands, 6 teams still have the right to exercise the provision : Atlanta Hawks (2 more years); Boston Celtics (1 more year); Chicago Bulls (2 more years); Memphis Grizzlies (2 more years); Oklahoma City Thunder (2 more years); San Antonio Spurs (1 more year).  Here is a team-by-team breakdown of the status of the Amnesty provision. To Trade or Not to Trade? Andy Is Not TRich

This week, the Cleveland Browns stunned the Cleveland fan base with its sudden early season trade of last year's #3 overall pick in the NFL Draft, running back Trent Richardson. With a record of 0-2, the team also announced that last year's other first round draft pick--injured quarterback Brandon Weeden--will be replaced in the starting lineup by third string quarterback Brian Hoyer. The underlying message of these moves was the unpopular yet too frequently heard message in Cleveland sports history: "There's always next year."
