Remembering September 11th

Ten years ago, the United States and numerous nations in the world experienced a great tragedy and losses from the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.  Now, ten years later, we continue to hold strong while also remembering the thousands of lives lost. The world of sports offers support both in the sadness of lost lives as well as in the joy of the continuation of life and the additions of new life to this world.  For years, sports and athletes have allowed masses of people comfort in taking time away from the stresses of daily life.  Sports offer entertainment, health, and learning experiences.  Sports are as much an escape from life as they are an embrace of life. The values embraced by athletes and sports--teamwork, pride, humility, passion, hope, leadership, family, freedom, respect, joy--are values characterized across America and throughout the world.  For all of the competition in sports, sports do offer peace to this world.  It is amazing...
